Associate Professor Andrew Spillane

Andrew Spillane is Professor of Surgical Oncology at The University of Sydney. He specialises in the surgical management of breast cancer and melanoma. Andrew is a senior VMO surgeon at the Mater Hospital North Sydney and Royal North Shore Hospital.

Andrew is a medical graduate of the University of Tasmania, founding executive member and past President of Breast Surgeons of Australia and New Zealand Inc. (BreastSurgANZ), a board member of the Breast Cancer Trials (formerly ANZBCTG) and Scientific Advisory Committee member; a board member and Deputy Chair of Melanoma and Skin Cancer (MASC) Trials Group (formerly theANZMTG). He is a Faculty Member of Melanoma Institute Australia. Andrew is Breast sub-editor for the ANZ Journal of Surgery; on the skin malignancy editorial board member of the Annals of Surgical Oncology and founding co-director of the University of Sydney’s Graduate Certificate in Advanced Breast Surgery. He is involved in clinical trials, basic clinical research and translational research on aspects of breast cancer and melanoma including trial management committee of the MelMART-2 study and active member of the International Neoadjuvant Melanoma Consortium. Andrew has been an author on over 200 peer reviewed publications and co-authored 4 book chapters. He teaches at the University of Sydney’s, Northern Clinical School.
