He is ranked Australia’s leading researcher in bladder pain and among the top 2% of scientists globally . He has attracted competitive funding from the ARC, NHMRC, MRFF, NIH, Flinders Foundation and industry partners, including more than $2 million as Chief Investigator A.

In 2022, he was awarded the Ralph Ernst Fellowship in bladder and prostate cancer, which he used to establish a consumer-led research program into the side effects of bladder cancer treatments in partnership with BEAT Bladder Cancer Australia.

Dr Grundy has been recognised with international young investigator awards from the American Urological Association and has delivered numerous invited presentations nationally and internationally. He also holds national leadership roles, including Board Member and Chair of the Scientific Advisory Committee for ASCEPT (2025–2027).
